Where Community and Celebration Intersect

City Park Jazz is a treasure in Denver’s cultural life.

City Park Jazz produces 10 free jazz concerts each summer in the crown jewel of Denver’s Parks, City Park, featuring bands or musicians based in Colorado. Jazz, blues and salsa, the predominant forms of music presented at our concerts, have broad appeal with our uniquely diverse, urban fans.

City Park Jazz is a tradition.

The City Park Jazz Summer Concert Series draws on a historic tradition that began more than 130 years ago. Photographs of City Park from the turn of last century offer scenes of ladies in fine hats and gentlemen in their Sunday best. They strolled around Ferril Lake and rested on the lawns while listening to concerts at the City Park bandstand. The current series began as a just a handful of jazz concerts in 1986. Each year since, thousands of fans of all ages, ethnicities and socioeconomic backgrounds (over 80,000 guests in 2011!) descend upon the bandstand to enjoy the special combination of music, nature and community.

City Park Jazz is a community supported charity.

City Park Jazz, Inc., a 501(c)(3) corporation, is organized and managed by volunteers who love Denver, love music and who take joy in bringing people together for music in the park. The overwhelming majority of our funding comes from private sources, from individual gifts and grants from charitable organizations, to donations and sponsorships from the business community. City Park Jazz is committed to protecting our environment, and we recycle waste from all of our concerts

City Park Jazz is committed to inclusion — of everyone.

At City Park Jazz, our mission is "A Celebration of Community." City Park Jazz lives its mission every day through our commitment to reflecting the incredible diversity of the community we serve, both in our artistic programming as well as in the leadership of our Board of Directors.
